The Verdugo HUUT! Presents: High Crimes 'n' Misdemeanors

7 p.m.

Our celebrated Hootenanny in the Hills brings L.A.'s finest musicians, storytellers, and comedians to our beautiful sanctuary for a night of music and laughs which the L.A. Times recently called "Hilarious!" and "A compelling experience."

This month's theme is HIGH CRIMES 'n' MISDEMEANORS: Music, Comedy, And Storytelling covering the whole spectrum of wickedness. Host Marty Barrett welcomes special guests, both HUUT veterans and new friends, for an unimpeachable night of entertainment in our cool sanctuary.

If you are a parent needing a date night, come right in! We have childcare available for a nominal fee, provided by licensed and trained childcare workers. Please contact Elizabeth Brown at least a week beforehand.

In Theory

Lay Leader: Howard Richman

10:30 a.m.

UUVerdugo has long been a contributor to the L.A. Times community newspapers' "In Theory" column, in which various spiritual, spiritual-adjacent, or decidedly non-spiritual thinkers opine on current topics.

Join us for our occasional (and often entertaining) In Theory reading and discussion, in which congregation members take on all the viewpoints from a recent column.

Join our own resident cineaste Jesse Silver for snacks, a screening, and discussion of Mr. Chaplin's dual-role masterpiece in which Chaplin plays a demagogue much like Adolf Hitler, released when the United States was still formally at peace with Nazi Germany.
