UUpcoming at UUVerdugo: December 9-10, 2023

With the understanding that there are worse problems in the world than figuring out how to title a blog post about events at your favorite hilltop Unitarian Universalist fellowship, as "this week" or "this weekend" might not achieve the level of accuracy we crave, today we unveil "UUpcoming" and hope that is sufficient both as a descriptor and as a pun.

(Don't forget to visit our newsletter for a schedule of services throughout December.)

THIS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9

Join Mercedes Del Castillo, founder of Arts & Education Nation, and other talented artists as they teach guests how to make cabachons, pendants, and how to transfer images onto soap in a 3-hour workshop in Friendship Hall. Leave with holiday gifts for lucky loved ones or just yourself. The cost is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Contact Mercededs at 818.714.3633. Venmo: @artsandeducationnation.

THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE: DECEMBER 10

We're very happy to welcome John Crye (words) and Laura Joy (music) back to UUVerdugo for a service on one of Christendom's revered luminaries, Mary, mother of Jesus.

LAST SUNDAY'S SERVICE

Prof. Bill Poehner led Discussion Sunday's collaborative talk on Gratitude, fitting for the week after Thanksgiving and the earnest beginning of the holiday season. Discussion Sunday is usually the first Sunday of the month and is followed by a potluck. January's Discussion Sunday will feature Letters to My Younger/Older Self.

THIS MONTH'S HUUT

Thanks for coming to our final Verdugo HUUT of 2023, featuring the talents of Tom Bishel, Chris Bonno, Matt Bunsen, Owen Dara, Laura Joy, Heidi Mastrogiovanni, and Richard Pittman. We skip January and return in triumph for our sixth anniversary HUUT on February 17, 2024.
